I assume that you will experience culture shock in a civilian work environment. Hang in there, and I’m sure that you will adjust.

Remember the Bad Boys film and the stress relief, ‘woooo-saa’.

Now your on civvy street you will find the work ethic some what diminished and find yourself working with more a-holes than you used to salute while on the King’s shilling.

Take care fella.

You’ll knock it outa the park dude! Just by showing up on time, finishing your work and not leaving before COB you'll be impressing the boss. It's crazy in the civilian world but you'll do great!

Very important

Remember how you used to bet your life that the other guy was going to do his job.

That’s all gone

No one’s going to check your six but you

Can relate.

Just put in the effort that you did on active duty and it will show through to your new employer and they will see your value. I joined a company worked my ass off. Got laid off before christmas 2014. Got hired back as a contractor. Worked my ass off with the same vigor as when i was full time/salaried. Hired back with a raise. Worked my ass off some more. Director left the company. Promoted to director position before i had been with the company for two years. Given an additional department to manage. Given budget oversight to correct any and all wrongs made by predecessors. (IE never set up full duplex mode for 10Gbps switches and firewall traffic)

And this all happened under 2 years of time with my company.

mind you I did 10 years active duty comm USMC/artillery/Forward observer/regimental photographer/CO’s radio operator-PSD/marksmanship instructor/machine gun instructor.

switches and firewall are built for 10GBps throughput but were only set up and configured at 10Mbps
